Sunday after Church we took a drive to see all the pretty fall leaves. We drove to Bardstown - our favorite place in Kentucky, and stopped along they way to take these pictures.

Memorial Day Fun

Claire doing cartwheels....

We were blessed to spend this Memorial Day with your friends the Chadwicks, as weel as Krista and Claire. We had fun grilling (vegeburgers for us and real ones for everyone else) and just playing around. We are grateful to live in the country we do and appreciate the men and women who have fought and are currently fighting for our freedom.

Churchill Downs

We had a fun day recently at Churchill Downs and the water front park in Louisville.
Kijanna got to meet Miss Kentucky and Miss Kentucky Teen...so exciting.

Watching the Jockeys mount the horses before the races.....Kali discovered she would be the perfect size for a Jockey .

The races are about 30 minutes apart. We watched several, but didn't win any money that day.
Our favorite pics for Derby this weekend are....I Want Revenge and Regal Ransom. We finished off the day at the Waterfront Park.

Kali is a Teenager!!!

I can't believe I have a teenager! It seems like just yesterday she was my chubby little baby....
Kali is such an awesome young woman. We are so blessed to have her. We love you Kali!

We have a tradition that daddy makes the girls pancakes for their birthday breakfast. Yum!

For dinner Kali picked Ginza. She likes the Hibachi Grill with Salmon. (yes, we eat fish....)

For her party this year we went bowling. She invited the youth from church and some of her friends from school. We had 18 kids with us at the bowling alley - better than at the house right?
They all bowled and had lots and lots of pizza. Yep - it was a boy/girl party this year. Scary ~

Just a thought...

I once heard that "in the end, all we really have is our story." It's an interesting thought… the value of our lives reduced to mere experiences and memories. What do our lives really say about us, and is our story really ours or just a collection of the memories and thoughts of others? I'm often amused when I attend a funeral of someone close and you hear all of these things about that person that make you question whether they really knew them or if you really knew them. But then what is the truth, and does it really matter… do our stories really matter? We spend our entire lives pretending to be someone and something that we're not… trying to hide the pain of our past regrets and only sharing the good times with everyone around us… why? Aren't these the same people that we depend on for friendship and support. Yet how many of these people really know the whole truth about you, your true feelings and thoughts and experiences? I would venture to say none. Even those who are our closest allies know only a fraction of the truth that makes us who we are. So what is our story really, if told by someone other than ourselves? Is it us, or just someone they imagined us to be? I don't know if I really want my real story told. It would be interesting that's for sure, but would it be worth the pain it could cause… maybe, maybe not. I really don't know anymore. Then, why do I even care? After all the only person who knows the entire truth about us is the same one who loved us so much that He gave up his life so that we could be with Him forever. And He loves us no matter what.

Kijanna

Here are a few things that Kijanna has been doing lately.

She played basketball with the Little Lady Panthers on Saturday mornings. She had lots of fun.

Both girls were in a play at the PAC. They did Cats & Dogs - short versions of Aristocats and 101 Dalmations. Kijanna played the part of Roquefort the Mouse. She was darling. Of course I am biased...

Kali

Here are a couple of things that Kali has been doing lately.

She took her ACT's. Yes in 7th grade. She is part of the Academic Team and Gifted and Talented kids at her school. We laugh and call them the Nerd Herd~

When she got her scores back this month, she was very excited! She did better than some of the High School kids. She can take the SAT's next year if she wants to. And she does.

Tonight they had a choir concert at the Middle School It has been resceduled twice due to bad weather, ice and tornados! She was also the only 7th grader from her school to participate in All State Choir this year. She does not get her singing talent from me - thank goodness!

This is a science project she did. They made a mini golf hole. She had lots of fun putting this together during the days we were stuck home during the ice storm.

Sisters in Tennessee

While the rest of my family was vacationing in Colorado, I went to Tennessee to visit my sister Krista and her family.

We went to eat at the Loveless Cafe, but didn't see anyone famous~ We tried to take pictures of
ourselves.
We also played BINGO! Krista won 50 bucks - oh yeah

10 Days in Colorado

Erek and the girls headed out to Durango Colorado for a trip to see Grandparents and Cousins. They stopped by the girls Ranch between Bayfield and Pagosa. I've always wanted to get a picture of the two of them outside the entrance. Notice their initials on the gate~

Perfect weather for snowboarding. We sure do miss those blue skies. Kentucky has more of a gray/blue sky.

Kali was really excited to see that she is almost as tall as Grandma Aila!

New Years in Illinois

Went went to Illinois for New Years Eve again this year. We have friends from Colorado - Jesse and Kaelee Horton, that come home for the Holidays to visit their family. They are nice enough to allow us to party with them. Off to Crystals for New Years Eve, we enjoyed lots of yummy food and played games.

Kijanna and Kaelee were excited to play American Girl Dolls together. Notice they have dolls that look like each other - not themselves

Kali, Alyssa and Rebecca had fun hanging out and texting all night.

Everyone had fun playing Rock Band!

Erek and Jesse rock!
